2. Definition of Conflict of Interest

A conflict of interest exists when a person associated with Human Study has personal, family, or professional interests that could influence, or appear to influence, their decisions or actions within the organization. 

Examples include but are not limited to: 

  • Participation in decisions that economically benefit family or friends. 

  • Hiring services or products from companies in which one has a direct or indirect interest. 

  • Using confidential information for personal gain.
